Please contact the Distress Centre Niagara for a volunteer informational package, complete the application package and return it to the Centre.
- We are looking for good listeners who are caring and non-judgemental.
- You will need to provide appropriate references and other documentation as required.
- You will need to complete a minimum of 21 hours of classroom training (usually 3 hours a week for 7 weeks)
- New volunteers complete 2 supervised telephone shifts (4 hours each) to help them prepare to work on their own.
- Volunteers participate in various interviews after completion of training process to ensure their comfort and ability.
- Volunteers must be able to commit to 16 hours a month.
- Volunteers must be able to work one 8 hour overnight shift per month for 12 months.
